A industrial metal detector is an instrument that detects the nearby presence of metal. Metal detectors are useful for finding metal objects on the surface, underground, and underwater. Metal detectors detect the presence and location of metal through electromagnetic induction, thereby enabling functions such as security checks, quality control, and target search. Compared with traditional detectors, the special design of the working surface of the detection area has large detection area, fast scanning speed and high sensitivity.

Metal detectors working principle

Metal detectors primarily operate on the principle of electromagnetic induction. Inside the gold detector machine are one or more coils. When these coils are energized, they generate an alternating magnetic field. When this magnetic field encounters a metallic object, induced currents (eddy currents) are generated within the metal. These eddy currents, in turn, generate a reverse magnetic field.

The hand held metal detectors's receiving coil or sensing circuit detects this change in the reverse magnetic field, thus determining the presence of metal nearby. The metal detector machine's electronic circuitry analyzes the signal strength and characteristics, and alerts the operator of the metal's presence and approximate location via sound, light, or a display screen.
